an abbreviation derived from Medical Subject Headings, the list of medical terms used by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) for its computerized system of storage and retrieval of published medical reports. The system is also used for indexing medical references published in the monthly and annual volumes of Index Medicus, published by the NLM.

nylon mesh
woven fiber in sheets used to repair gaps in tissue. Other less reactive and more easily worked materials are also available.

His dam, Meshhed, ended the four-time Derby winner's career when kicking him 15 feet across Newbury's paddock in 1996.
Just as well known is her son Fatehalkhair, the prolific Sedgefield winner, while her grand-daughter Meshhed ended Willie Carson's riding career.
The five times champion suffered serious liver injuries when he was sent flying by a kick from Meshhed in the paddock.
