Relating to or containing mercury, especially with a valence of 2.

mercuric
pertaining to mercury as a bivalent element; containing bivalent mercury.

mercuric chloride, mercuric bichloride
used as a skin antiseptic and disinfectant and counterirritant; is limited by its toxicity and irritant properties.
mercuric iodide
a counterirritant and vesicant; use of this compound in blisters for horses has been discontinued because of its renal and hepatic toxicity.
mercuric nitrate
has antiseptic and miticidal properties; once used topically in the treatment of demodectic mange in dogs, but replaced by safer and more effective agents.
mercuric oxide
a topical antiseptic, used in ointment form for eye disorders. Called also yellow oxide.
