Etymology: Gk, megas + enkephalos, brain
a condition characterized by pathologic parenchymal overgrowth of the brain. In some cases generalized cerebral hyperplasia is associated with mental retardation or a brain disorder, such as epilepsy. Also called macrencephaly. megalencephalic, megalencephalous, adj.
