isoproterenol /iso·pro·te·re·nol/ (-pro-ter´ĕ-nol) a sympathomimetic used in the form of the hydrochloride and sulfate salts as a bronchodilator, and in the form of the hydrochloride salt as a cardiac stimulant. isoproterenol a synthetic cathecholamine and potent β-receptor agonist; it causes vasodilation and positive inotropic and chronotropic effects in the heart.
