Mastigophora /Mas·ti·goph·o·ra/ (mas″tĭ-gof´o-rah) a subphylum of Protozoa comprising those having one or more flagella throughout most of their life cycle, and a simple, centrally located nucleus; many are parasitic in both invertebrates and vertebrates, including humans.

n a subphylum of sarcomastigophora con-sisting of parasitic protozoa, also called flagellates. Causes diseases such as enteritis, urethritis, vaginitis, and Chagas' disease by drinking contaminated water, contact with vaginal discharge, and through bug bite.
