malathion /mal·a·thi·on/ (mal-ah-thi´on) an organophosphorus insecticide used as a topical pediculicide. Malathion An insecticide that can be used in 1% powdered form to disinfect the clothes of patients with body lice. Mentioned in: Lice Infestation malathion one of the least toxic and most widely used organophosphorus insecticides in companion animals. Toxicity when it occurs is usually due to gross overconcentration of the compound in the topical preparation used.
