otter an aquatic mustelid, closely related to polecat and marten. Has dark brown glossy, dense fur, webbed toes and a broad tail, short face whiskers and ears that can be closed off when diving. There are several species, Lutra, Aonyx spp. and the much bigger sea otter (Enhydra lutis). How to thank TFD for its existence?
