lumbodorsal fascia, the extensive subdivision of the vertebral fascia that sheaths the sacrospinalis muscle. It spreads caudally to become the glistening white lumbar aponeurosis and the origin of the latissimus dorsi. Medially it attaches to the sacrum, laterally to the ribs and the intercostal fascia, and cranially to the nuchal ligament. See also thoracolumbar fascia. How to thank TFD for its existence? Potential of lumbodorsal fascia forces to generate back extension moments during squat lifts. In addition, tension on the lumbodorsal fascia is altered. Theoretically, in the more kyphotic style of lifting, the flexion moment is minimized by tension in the posterior ligaments and lumbodorsal fascia,[17] whereas the erector spinae musculature remains relatively quiescent. |
