loxapine /lox·a·pine/ (lok´sah-pēn) a tricyclic dibenzoxazepine derivative used as the succinate and hydrochloride salts as an antipsychotic. loxapine [lok′səpēn] an antipsychotic agent. indication It is prescribed in the treatment of schizophrenia. contraindications Parkinson's disease, concurrent administration of central nervous system depressants, liver or kidney dysfunction, severe hypotension, or known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibits its use. adverse effects Among the more serious adverse effects are hypotension, liver toxicity, a variety of extrapyramidal reactions, and hypersensitivity reactions. loxapine Loxitane® A tricyclic antidepressant How to thank TFD for its existence?
