Little League Elbow
An overuse injury that causes medial epicondylitis, manifest as apophyseal tenderness with ulnar nerve irritation. If severe, Little League elbow may require surgery with possible lifelong arthralgia, due to injury of the physeal cells under the articular cartilage; permanent damage results from repeated and excessive axial loading, which compresses the cells against the osseous matrix; late sequelae: osteochondritis dissecans

As more and more youngsters are forced to visit doctors' offices for everything from bone fractures and Little League elbow to shin splints and damaged knees, the alarm is being sounded loud and clear by sports medicine professionals that too much of the same activity can do more harm than good.
In the May issue of the Penn State Sports Medicine Newsletter, a sports medicine expert warns that without a few simple but necessary precautions, Little League elbow can lead to permanent arm injury.
Some common overuse injuries are anterior knee pain, caused by muscle tightness; little league elbow, caused by repetitive throwing; and swimmer's shoulder, caused by repetitious overhead movement.
