linkage disequilibrium  the occurrence in a population of two linked alleles at a frequency higher or lower than expected on the basis of the gene frequencies of the individual genes.

linkage disequilibrium

The nonrandom association between two or more alleles such that certain combinations of alleles are more likely to occur together on a chromosome than other combinations of alleles.

linkage disequilibrium,
a nonrandom association of two genes on the same chromosome.
