levocarnitine /le·vo·car·ni·tine/ (-kahr´nĭ-tēn) a preparation of the biologically active l-isomer of carnitine used in the treatment of carnitine deficiency.

an oral drug for carnitine deficiency.
indication It is prescribed for the treatment of primary systemic carnitine deficiency.
contraindication It should not be given to patients with a known hypersensitivity to carnitine.
adverse effects Adverse effects include nausea, dizziness, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and body odor.
