latex fixation test
Etymology: L, latex, fluid, figere, to fasten
a serologic test used in the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis in which antigen-coated latex particles agglutinate with rheumatoid factors in a slide specimen of serum or synovial fluid. If positive, the screening slide test is followed by titration. Also called RA latex test, RF test. See also rheumatoid factor.
