Leroy Carhart, who provides late-term abortions to women whose lives and health are endangered by their pregnancies, or whose fetuses have been determined to have catastrophic anomalies.
After a stint in his father's general family practice, Tiller came to specialize in late-term abortion as other doctors -- pressured by increased regulations and protests -- refused to perform them.
One of the few doctors who still performs late-term abortions in the United States, George Tiller has been picketed, bombed and shot in the arms.
