Kooikerhondje

Kooiker dog, Kooikerhondje
an old Dutch working breed, known also as a Dutch decoy dog, supposedly because it can act as a decoy to lure ducks into a trap with its feathered tail. A small (14-16 inches tall) dog with moderately long, wavy haircoat with feathering on the chest, legs and tail in white with patches of red.

Kooiker dog myelopathy
a degenerative myelopathy, similar to Afghan hound myelopathy, inherited as an autosomal recessive trait.

Most of the contestants we saw were upper class, white, social networkers, banging on about "purity of the breed", marching round the countryside with their freakishly in-bred obscure breeds - dogs like the Kooikerhondje from Holland and the Japanese Shiba Inu, which I thought was a car.
The Kooikerhondje, a breed that originates from The Netherlands, will have its own category in the international dog show, which begins tomorrow at Birmingham's NEC.
