Kalanchoe
genus of African plants in family Crassulaceae. Classified as Bryophyllum spp. Includes K. daigremontiana, K. integra, K. lanceolata, K. luerbitiana, K. paniculata, K. pentheri, K. pinnata, K. rotundifolia, K. K. spathulata, K. thyrsiflora, K. tubiflora. Contain bufadienolide cardiac glycosides; may cause krimpsiekte.

The last time I was at the Getty, I saw an azalea maze that was nothing but azaleas surrounded by large swaths of gray-leafed, ground-hugging Kalanchoe pumila, variegated society garlic and dwarf New Zealand flax, a combination I have not yet forgotten.
While an Azalea must be cared for every week, a Kalanchoe or Bromeliad does not.
Perhaps the most-prized flowering succulent for hanging baskets is the gray-leafed, pink-blossomed Kalanchoe pumila.
