Jung, Carl Gustav(yŭng)
[Swiss psychiatrist, 1875–1961]
The founder of a school of analytic psychology. In his early career, Jung was associated with Sigmund Freud. Later he proposed his own theory of the unconscious mind, based on his belief that all human beings share common myths and symbols. This concept has not been objectively validated.
