Cardiology Criteria for diagnosing acute rheumatic fever, first proposed by TD Jones in 1944, later revised and updated by the Am Heart Assn; ARF is diagnosed with reasonable certainty with 2, or more, major criteria, or 1 major and 2 minor criteria, assuming previous evidence of group A streptococcal infection

Major Manifestations
• Carditis
• Polyarthritis
• Chorea (Sydenham's chorea)
• Eythema marginatum
• Subcutaneous nodules
Minor Manifestations
 Clinical findings
• Arthralgia
• Fever
 Laboratory findings
• ↑ Acute phase reactants
• Erythrocyte sedimentation rate
• C-reactive protein
• Prolonged PR interval
Evidence of previous group A streptococcal infection
 + Throat culture or rapid streptococcal antigen test
↑ (or rising) streptococcal antibody titer
