Jen·ner (jnr), Edward 1749-1823.
British physician and vaccination pioneer who found that smallpox could be prevented by inoculation with the substance from cowpox lesions.

Jenner [jen´er]
Edward (1749–1823). English physician who discovered the principle of vaccination for smallpox in 1796. By experimental demonstration, Jenner turned a local country tradition that dairymaids who had contracted cowpox did not acquire smallpox into a permanent working principle in science.
