Irish wolfhound

Irish wolfhound
a very large (at least 100 lb in weight and 30 inches tall), muscular dog with a long head, small ears, long neck, long tail, and deep chest. One of the giant breeds. The coat is medium length, rough, and wiry, in beige, fawn, gray, brindle and other solid colors. The breed is affected by hygromas, portacaval shunts and hypothyroidism.

This breed can often be found in literature and artwork that predates Christianity and one of the most primitive recorded references to Irish Wolfhounds is in Roman records dating to 391 A.
