ipratropium

ipratropium /ipra·tro·pi·um/ (ip″rah-tro´pe-um) a synthetic congener of atropine that acts as an anticholinergic agent; used as the bromide salt by inhalation as a bronchodilator and intranasally to relieve rhinorrhea.

an anticholinergic and antimuscarinic, used in the form of the bromide salt as an aerosol bronchodilator in treatment of bronchospasm and as a nasal spray for the relief of rhinorrhea.

The medication treatment for coughing might be administering agonists like the short-acting Ipratropium Bromide by inhalation or Teophylline by oral way, long-action agonists and inhaled corticosteroids.
Nonetheless, ipratropium bromide is available in a metered dose inhaler and generically as a nebulized solution.
The anticholinergic drugs may also be used and the main drug in this case is ipratropium bromide (Atrovent).
