interrogatories [in′tərog′ətôr′ēz] Etymology: L, inter + rogare, to ask (in law) a series of written questions submitted to a witness or other person having information of interest to the court. The answers are transcribed and are sworn to under oath. Interrogatories are used during the pretrial period as a means of discovery.
