ABSTRACT Objective: Postoperative respiratory functions, arterial blood gases, blood loss and clinical outcome following coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) were assessed in a prospective randomized single-blind (patient-blind) clinical study comparing two different techniques of internal thoracic artery (ITA) harvesting.
Harvesting the saphenous vein with surrounding tissue for CABG provides long-term graft patency comparable to the left internal thoracic artery: Results of a randomized longitudinal trial.
He is the author of more than 350 clinical research papers, including the landmark study of internal thoracic artery grafting that appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1986.
