In test-tube studies, the researchers found that this production of interleukin-12 can also arouse the self-reactive immune cells that cause autoimmune problems. In this Phase I open-label study, plasmid DNA encoding a cytokine, interleukin-12 (IL-12), is delivered directly to tumors in patients with malignant melanoma through electroporation using the MedPulser(R) DNA Electroporation System. |
