inferior thyroid vein
n.
A vein that is formed by veins from the isthmus and lateral lobe of the thyroid gland and the plexus thyroideus impar, terminating in the left brachiocephalic vein.

inferior thyroid vein,
one of the few veins that arise in the venous plexus on the thyroid gland and form a plexus ventral to the trachea, under the sternothyroideus muscle. A left vein descends from this plexus to join the left brachiocephalic trunk; a right vein descends obliquely to open into the right brachiocephalic vein at its junction with the superior vena cava.
