Abrus precatorius; parts used: roots, leaves, seeds; uses: in Ayurveda, pacifies vata and pitta doshas (bitter, light, dry, sharp); seeds: contraception, antidiarrheal, anthelmintic; roots: antiemetic, anthelmintic; precautions: unproces-sed seeds are highly toxic if ingested. Also called
crab's eye, gunja, jequirity, or
rati.
