The 'gaur' or the Indian bison is an endangered species and found mostly in protected sanctuaries.
Kerala is home to a wide variety of fauna like Asian elephants, Bengal tigers, leopards, grizzled giant squirrels, lion-tailed macaques, sloth bears and the Indian bison.
Besides one-horned Rhinos, the other major wild attractions include a significant presence of Indian elephants, tigers, Indian bison, swamp deer, leopard cats, capped langurs, wild boars and buffalos, pythons and a wide variety of other wild animals and birds.
