[il′ē·ōsō′əs]
Etymology: L, ilium + Gk, psoa, loin muscle
one of the pair of muscle complexes that flex, adduct, and laterally rotate the thigh and the lumbar vertebral column, consisting of the psoas major and the iliacus. The psoas minor is often absent.

The hip click, in my experience, is most commonly caused by the snapping of the iliopsoas tendon as it moves forward.
The iliopsoas runs in your abdomen behind the organs, along the front of the spine, and ends at a point in the inner leg called the lesser trochanter.
