IL6

A gene on chromosome 7p21 that encodes interleukin-6, a cytokine which plays a role in the acute-phase response of inflammation and in B-cell maturation. It is primarily produced at sites of acute and chronic inflammation, where it is secreted into the serum and induces a transcriptional inflammatory response through Il-6 receptor alpha.

Molecular pathology
IL6 dysfunction is linked to increased susceptibility to diabetes and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

Cox proportional hazard models were used for 162 cases to estimate associations between IL6 variants and the time to cancer diagnosis.
We also identified the specific genetic sequence in this gene that serves as a target of that signaling pathway, and we discovered that a well-known variation in that sequence can block that path and disconnect IL6 responses from the effects of stress.
6 In addition it also secretes inflammatory adipokines TNFa, IL6, IL1 that not only cause local steatonecrosis, but are distributed throughout the body by a vascular system resulting in a chronic inflammatory state.
Neither study examined circulating IL6 or CRP levels; both of these biomarkers being associated with low-grade systemic inflammation (Calle and Fernandez, 2010).
IL6 causes bone resorption in pathological state by stimulating the formation of osteoclast and activation of osteoclastic resorption.
Citoquinas como la IL6 y la IL1p estimulan la expresion, pero la hipoxia y el estres oxidativo reprimen la expresion del peptido (64,69).
Common gene variants involved in the pathogenesis of SLE moreover comprise components of various cytokine pathways including IRF5, STAT4, IL6, and TNFSF4 [37, 38], which possibly could create disorders in the balance and regulation of cytokine responses upon antigen stimulation.
As shown in Figure 5, H/R stimulation selectively induced the mRNA expression of IL6 and TNF[alpha] but not IL1[beta] mRNA.
Thus, in contrast to some other studies, the use of IL6 as a marker for the diagnosis of metabolic syndrome may not be suggested59.
Briefly, Immulon 4 plates were coated with capture antibody specific for the human TNFa, IL6, and IL10 and incubated overnight at 4C.
