abbr.
intermittent acute porphyria

inhibitor of apoptosis protein (IAP),
any of a class of proteins that play a regulatory role in apoptosis in many species by inhibiting caspase activity, which in turn blocks apoptosis. Such proteins are also expressed abnormally in many tumors.
