IKBKE

A gene on chromosome 1q32.1 that encodes a protein which phosphorylates inhibitors of NF-kappa-B, leading to the dissociation of the inhibitor/NF-kappa-B complex and degradation of the inhibitor. IKBKE protects cells against DNA-damage-induced cell death and is highly expressed in the spleen. It may play a role in the immune response.
