hypervariable region (HVR)

a region of a GENOME that is made up of a variable number of repeated sequences and is diagnostic for an individual. See FINGERPRINTING (2).

hypervariable region

regions present on light and heavy chains of immunoglobulins where most of the variation in amino acid sequences occurs. These are also sites of antigen binding.
