Cardiology Enlargement of the left ventricle often linked to the prolonged hemodynamic stress of CHF, characterized by myocardial cell hypertrophy, ↑ left ventricular wall thickness, ↓ ventricular compliance, ↑ ventricular stiffness and, in elderly, ↑ vascular resistance.
