An intracerebral hemorrhage due to chronic uncontrolled HTN, associated with microaneurysms that leak into the brain, especially the basal ganglia, possibly resulting in a hematoma; blood acts as an irritant, evoking cerebral edema; bleeding into the ventricles or subarachnoid space results in meningeal irritation Clinical A function of the amount of necrosis and location; Sx are usually abrupt and may occur during activity, or be episodic, or slowly progressive.
