Nematode induced hypersensibility reactions in guinea pig: onset of eosinophilia and positive Schultz-Dale reactions following graded infection with Toxocara canis.
The severe side-effects of benznidazole and nifurtimox, including agranulocytosis, hypersensibility reactions and anorexia, make them poorly tolerated (Almeida and Gazzinelli, 2001).
Aside from the obvious therapeutic importance, these compounds would be useful to understanding the mechanism of diseases with higher levels of cellular activation, suchas autoimmune and hypersensibility diseases.
