Hyperbaric oxygen Medical treatment in which oxygen is administered in specially designed chambers, under pressures greater than that of the atmosphere, in order to treat specific medical conditions. Mentioned in: Gangrene hyperbaric oxygen (hī´purber´ik), n oxygen delivered to a patient in a pressurized (hyperbaric) chamber that delivers the oxygen in high concentrations for therapeutic benefits. It may be used prior to implant therapy for patients who underwent head and radiation therapy to reduce risks of osteoradionecrosis. |
