Hymenoxys a plant genus of the Asteraceae (Compositae) family; contain toxic sesquiterpene lactone; poisoning causes a syndrome called 'spewing sickness' consisting of gastroenteritis manifested by lethargy, salivation, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea plus nervous signs of tremor, incoordination and convulsions in pastured animals which eat the plant. Includes H. lemmoni, H. odorata, H. richardsonii (H. floribunda). Called also Actinea spp., bitterweed, Colorado rubber weed, pingue. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
