hygromycin B an antibiotic produced by Streptomyces hygroscopicus; used for the control of ascariasis and esophagostomiasis in sows. The method of use is to feed it to sows over a period of several weeks, or continuously to growing pigs. Overdosing may cause deafness and cataracts.
