hydrofluoric acid /hy·dro·flu·o·ric ac·id/ (-floor´ik) a gaseous haloid acid, HF, extremely poisonous and corrosive.
hydrofluoric acid
[hī′drōfloo͡r′ik]
a term applied to aqueous solutions of hydrogen fluoride, an organic acid used in dilute solutions for cleaning and etching. It is extremely poisonous, as well as corrosive to the skin.

hydrofluoric acid,
n a compound consisting of hydrogen and flourine. It is a very active, corrosive compound, used to etch glass and precious metals.

hydrofluoric acid
a glass etching agent; is in the effluent gases from some industrial plants making bricks, pottery, working aluminum. Creates a toxic hazard associated with industry. See also fluorosis.
