Hutchinson's freckle Etymology: Jonathan Hutchinson, English surgeon, 1828-1913 a tan patch on the skin that grows slowly and becomes mottled, dark, thick, and nodular. The lesion is usually seen on one side of the face of an elderly person. Local excision is recommended because it often becomes malignant. Also called lentigo maligna. See also melanoma.
