Hulet's rod technique

Hulet's rod technique

an aid to pregnancy diagnosis used in ewes and goats that are 70 to 100 days pregnant. The animal is fasted and laid on its back. The lubricated rod is passed 14 inches into the rectum and the end moved in an arc from the spine to the abdominal wall. The pregnant uterus can be felt by an external hand as the rod moves it up to the abdominal wall.
