Hortaea /Hor·taea/ (hor-te´ah) a genus of Fungi Imperfecti with the sole species H. wernec´kii (formerly Exophiala werneckii ), a halophilic, dematiaceous yeast that inhabits the soil and is the cause of tinea nigra.
