Just as it was inaccurate to describe the city as racist in the wake of Anthony Walker''s tragic murder in 2005, it is plain wrong to say we have a major problem with homophobia.
United by our cause, many within the gay community are confused, angry and at a loss over how we can make a positive lasting difference, sooner rather than later, against homophobia in such dark times.
After successfully battling racism, the footballing authorities are striving to stamp out homophobia as fans wait to see if any player will publicly disclose he is gay.
