homogametic /ho·mo·ga·met·ic/ (-gah-met´ik) pertaining to production of gametes containing only one kind of sex chromosome, as in the human female.
homogametic [hō′mōgamet′ik] Etymology: Gk, homos + gamete, spouse pertaining to the sex that produces gametes of only one kind, in terms of their sex chromosomes. In human beings, the female is the homogametic sex. homogametic [ho″mo-gah-met´ik] having only one kind of gamete with respect to the sex chromosomes, as in the human female, all of whose ova contain only the X chromosome.
