Home Birth: The Spirit, the Science, and the Mother (The Home Birth Series, Volume III, Part I), directed by Diana Patti, features lengthy interviews with prominent birth-reform leader Marsden Wagner as well as chiropractor Jeanne Tgettis and osteopath Fred Duhart.
International research supports this view, with a recent American study on home births published in the British Medical Journal concluding midwife-assisted, low-risk, home births are just as safe as hospital births, women experience fewer interventions, and the cost is much less.
In addition, the obstetrics unit prepares "delivery packs" equipped with necessary supplies for a husband or other relative who must handle a home birth during Israeli curfews or when roadblocks prevent access to the hospital.
