Holding Bed

    0.01 sec.
Observation Bed
A popular term for a bed occupied by a person under outpatient observation. Such beds have a status recognised by third-party payers—e.g., Medicare, health insurers and others—in which the patient is admitted to the hospital for up to 23 hours and 59 minutes (or more, depending on the 3rd party) with a specific ‘rule/out’ diagnostic consideration, e.g., appendicitis, angina, myocardial infarction, or pneumonia
