A silicon tetrachloride solution was prepared in hexanes to 0. Within 10 days of arrival at the institute, the PUF plug and filter were placed in a Soxhlet extractor (Coming, Coming, NY), which was spiked with terphenyl-d14 as a recovery surrogate, and extracted with 6% diethyl ether in hexanes for 16 hr and then concentrated the extractant to 1 mL. The police search showed the house to be a veritable cocaine factory, equipped with a hydraulic press, gallons of hexanes, acetone, hydrochloric acid, and drying lamps. |
