bird of prey in the subfamily Accipitridae. Includes genera of Accipiter (goshawk and European sparrowhawk). The unrelated American sparrowhawk (Falco sparverius) is a member of the falcon family.

Hawkes later claimed he spent a minute beside stroke-victim Mr Cousin's bed before becoming so upset he put his hand over the stricken man's mouth and nose, a judge was told.
Mrs Hawkes said her husband only worked occasionally now and was a carer for her as she had health problems including osteoporosis.
