hamartoma /ham·ar·to·ma/ (ham?ahr-to´mah) a benign tumor-like nodule composed of an overgrowth of mature cells and tissues normally present in the affected part, but with disorganization and often with one element predominating.
ham·ar·to·ma (hmär-tm)
n. pl ham·ar·to·mas or ham·ar·to·ma·ta (-m-t)
A benign tumorlike malformation resulting from faulty development in an organ and composed of an abnormal mixture of tissue elements that develop and grow at the same rate as normal elements but are not likely to compress adjacent tissue.

hamartoma (ham´ärtō´m),
n a localized error in the composition of the tissue elements of an organ. May be automatically manifested in three ways, either singly or in combination: abnormal quantity, abnormal structure, or degree of maturation of the tissue components.

tumor mass, usually dermal, consisting of primitive to well formed blood vessels.
