a genus of blood-sucking nematodes of the family Trichostrongylidae.

Haemonchus bedfordi
found in African buffalo and some gazelles.
Haemonchus contortus
found in the abomasum of most ruminants and the cause of serious losses in sheep from haemonchosis. There have been attempts to subdivide the species, e.g. H. contortus cayugensis, but the differences between the subspecies have not been substantiated.

found in gazelles.

found in impala.
Haemonchus lawrenci
found in duiker.
Haemonchus longistipes
found in camel, dromedary.
